Mere entertainment or an art of living, this tool makes one blossom at every contact. In this circle of joy where each one encounters his difficulties, we laugh at the vagaries of life without worrying ourselves with what comes next. At times flexible, at times less so, the player juggles with his abilities, never quite revealing them, using 'malicia' and guided by his most childlike perception.

Class open to all levels / 13 years old and above

Ashtanga  Yoga

All students commence their instruction in the same manner in which on the first day of class they are taught Surya Namaskar A, followed by Padmasana and deep breathing, and a few minutes of rest to conclude their first day of practice. The next day after Surya Namaskar A has been performed, Surya Namaskar B is taught, and one then again concludes in the same method as the previous day, with Padmasana, deep breathing, and rest. After both of the Surya Namaskar have been learned correctly, each of the various asanas are added one by one. When one asana is correct, the next one is taught. Depending on the age and ability of the student, it can take anywhere upwards of 3 months to learn the primary series.

From Monday to Friday: the format of the practice always remains the same; one always begins practice on his own with Surya Namaskar, concludes with Padmasana and rest, and the various asanas gradually fill the space between these two poles It is through the daily practice of Ashtanga Yoga that we draw it into ourselves, understand it.
On Saturdays, group guided classes are taught, in which all the vinyasas are counted out loud and all students follow along together accordingly

For 13 years she studied the yoga through her own daily practise and teaching, the mind through regular and repetitive meditation retreats, she gave importance to the sadhana, she learned more about the body through her training and experience in Thai yoga massage and about the mind through her training and practise in NLP (sessions, workshop) .

With deep gratitude and respect she shares the primary series teachings as she has been taught by Monica Marinoni and Sri Sharath Jois.

Open Heart Space Meditation is a simple practice of becoming aware of the reality as it is without judgement, interpretation or reaction, and settling into its vast luminous expanse. We learn to embrace and let go each experience as it arises and subsides. Eventually the mind falls silent and sinks into the open heart-space, a doorway to unity-consciousness, where the inner and outer worlds meet and merge.

Along with meditation, there will be some mantra chanting, yoga, interactive dialogue, and whatever arises in the moment.

Samrat grew up in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry. He studied upto graduation in the Ashram School/College called Sri Aurobindo International Center of Education and also studied Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy. Restorative Yoga classes are relaxing and slow paced; a whole session may consist of as few as five or six postures that are held for long periods of time. Props (including bolsters, blankets, blocks, and belts) are often used to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible. Gentle music and guided meditation enhance the calming effects.

Restorative Yoga is known for its relaxing and healing effects. It has its roots in the yoga of B.K.S. Iyengar, who developed it to help students practice without any strain or pain. This was further expanded into a whole system of yoga which is considered ideal for those recovering from injuries or illnesses.

Restorative yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, regulates the blood pressure and relaxes the body, and is therefore considered particularly beneficial for those suffering from stress-related conditions (including anxiety, insomnia or headaches). Restorative Yoga is also believed to boost the immune system and accelerate the body s natural healing process.

Hatha Yoga

is a comprehensive study of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control).
We will begin by breathing exercises (pranayama) and go on standing positions to warm the body. After we go on working deeply the flexibility and the purification of the body   by the sitting positions. In my class I keep attention on breathing and awareness of the body through asanas. The alignment is not the priority but the awareness of the body and breathing are the priority.
Slowly I will adapt to your abilities and your own difficulties and help each one of you to progress in the yoga.
Why dynamic: we will keep a kind of fluidity during standing asanas  to help the mind to stay concentrate and later to go more inside (development of concentration) and develop

In the yogic tradition Bhakti, or surrendering to divine consciousness, is considered to be the easiest of the 4 paths of yoga. For most of us, especially beginners, it may be difficult to meditate just by focusing on breath. Singing mantras (devotional chants), however, is a tool that many people find helps to quiet the mind more easily, and brings a sense of unconditional “inner-self love"! This intensive ends with a guidance in "Yoga Nidra" or yogic sleep, a proven method for achieving deep, trance-like self-relaxation.

Nikhil Thapar is a certified Yoga teacher from Sivananda 200 RYS, madhurai, india and trained hatha yoga teacher. He have been conducting Yoga & Meditation sessions (hatha yoga, laughter yoga, music meditations, chantings, pranayama etc) in Europe - Poland (krakow), Bulgaria(sofia, plovidv and varna), the Netherlands (utrecht), Thailand & Russia) for last 2 years & earlier in Dharamshala, bhagsu, India for about 5 years, both drop-ins and also been assisting in the 200 RYS Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Programs (creating new Yoga Teachers) with Bhagsu Yoga Institute, headed by Om Shankar Yogi. Currently living nearby Auroville.

Moving images from the archives project from old televisions in an immersive dark room. The recorded memories become meditative taking us beyond the action apparent on screen, deeper into the recesses of consciousness with which the actions were committed. It is an attempt to remember those times, the momentum and the labour of love that went into making Auroville what it is today. A projection of Auroville's continuous journey, towards becoming.

Richa Hushing and Rrivu Laha are documentary filmmakers, newcomers in Auroville. They were instantly drawn to the wealth of recorded memories from the formative years; and took upon themselves the task of drawing out the stunning visuals records for all to see and experience Auroville as it was, in the making.

Solitude Farm
11:30 AM

Dear Friends,

Join us every Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm as we explore Solitude farm and the three steps on our road back to Nature. Experience the farm with Krishna as your guide as he shares his understanding of 25 years having started Solitude Farm and studying with Masanobu Fukuoka.

For more information, please contact Krishna - 984 331 2960 & krishnamckenzie@auroville.org.in

-----

Solitude was started in 1996 by a group of young Aurovillians. One of them, Krishna Mckenzie, inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka developed the farm with the ideas of Natural farming and permaculture.

Much like the rest of Auroville, the land needed tending and care. Fukuoka advocated that all the bio-resources around us, such as leaves, weeds, branches, etc., should constantly be returned to the soil to increase soil fertility. We have come to understand, over the years, that a healthy soil is Mother Earth, and through a deepening of our relationship with Her, we now use over 130 different plants in the food we serve at the café.

No pesticides or fertilizers have ever been used on the land. We practice non-tillage and no machines or tractors are used. Every part of this land is honored and respected.

Solitude Farm is a true example of Masanobu Fukuoka’s philosophy in practice – a road back to nature through eating local food.

Christine was born in France in 1967. After completing her studies as Nurse in 1988, she started working as a nurse and soon started

travelling in India seeking “for the truth” through pilgrims around Rishikesh

A few years later with the financial support of sponsors she  crossed  The Himalays with horses from Kathmandu to Srinagar for 8 month, later on, she followed the Mekong river from his stream in Tibet ( Xining- Kham) though South east of Tibet, Yunnan, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodge.

In 1995 She created Orient explorers a tourism and travelling association and worked within until 2002. She came across Vipassana meditation  and decided to settle in Auroville in 2002,  an intentional spiritual community located in South India.

In 2004, after two years studying  Hatha Yoga and Yengar, she discovered  Ashtanga Yoga  and started to  study with Monica Marinoni until 2016 and  since 2007  under the guidance of Sri Sharath Jois  (Sri K. Pattabhi Jois’grandson)  at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India.
In 2010 she opened “ Yoga et Bien-etre”, where she was teaching for 4 years, running Hatha Yoga class evenings  and daily Mysore style program in the mornings. And the last year, she started to offer workshops on Yoga and meditation including Satsang about Yoga sutra, relaxation and pranayama.

These Hatha Yoga sessions harken back to the roots of the classical form of Yoga, intended for the unity of body and mind. Hatha Yoga is often seen as the yoga of balance and posture, but this specific style is aimed at bringing the body-mind into a focused, calm and composed state, further helping in meditation.

Bijou began exploring Yoga in 2014, far away from civilization in the Amazon jungle. This calling led to deeper research into the ancient art, including certification in 2015 (300 hr.

The term ‘rib cage’ may give the impression of something closed, lacking the ability to breathe. But as toddlers, before we learned to walk on two legs, we knew how flexible this part of our body really is, and how pleasurable it is to breathe deeply when the ribs are soft and pliable. Crawling or walking on “all fours" gives the ribs a reminder of this softness, while standing on two feet can diminish this feeling. In this intensive, we will remind ourselves how to roll and breathe like we did when we were toddlers!

Nur Bar-Onhas been practicing the Feldenkrais Method since 2010 and became a certified teacher after 3 years of study (2015-18). She has taught in Israel, Germany and Portugal, and likes to assist others in discovering more skillful ways of being in their bodies.

Bharat Nivas kalaKendra
10:00 AM

Special Thanks to the installation team: Dhriti, Mridul, Bharat, Leo, Allen, Emmanuel, Krishna, Raj, Isabelle, Alok, Tapas and Michael.
