Mere entertainment or an art of living, this tool makes one blossom at every contact. In this circle of joy where each one encounters his difficulties, we laugh at the vagaries of life without worrying ourselves with what comes next. At times flexible, at times less so, the player juggles with his abilities, never quite revealing them, using 'malicia' and guided by his most childlike perception.

Class open to all levels / 13 years old and above

Hatha Yoga

is a comprehensive study of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control).
We will begin by breathing exercises (pranayama) and go on standing positions to warm the body. After we go on working deeply the flexibility and the purification of the body   by the sitting positions. In my class I keep attention on breathing and awareness of the body through asanas. The alignment is not the priority but the awareness of the body and breathing are the priority.
Slowly I will adapt to your abilities and your own difficulties and help each one of you to progress in the yoga.
Why dynamic: we will keep a kind of fluidity during standing asanas  to help the mind to stay concentrate and later to go more inside (development of concentration) and develop your abilities to feel your body and be aware of your breath.

Women pregnant until 7 month can follow my class if there are active. Persons with back pain, sciatic are welcome to join and it will help them.

There are two levels:
Beginners: for whom who have almost never practice Yoga, who have physical problems and for pregnant women.
Mixed: for whom who have already practice Yoga and know the asanas.

Christine was born in France in 1967. After completing her studies as Nurse in 1988, she started working as a nurse and soon started

travelling in India seeking “for the truth” through pilgrims around Rishikesh

A few years later with the financial support of sponsors she  crossed  The Himalays with horses from Kathmandu to Srinagar for 8 month, later on, she followed the Mekong river from his stream in Tibet ( Xining- Kham) though South east of Tibet, Yunnan, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodge.

In 1995 She created Orient explorers a tourism and travelling association and worked within until 2002. She came across Vipassana meditation  and decided to settle in Auroville in 2002,  an intentional spiritual community located in South India.

In 2004, after two years studying  Hatha Yoga and Yengar, she discovered  Ashtanga Yoga  and started to  study with Monica Marinoni until 2016 and  since 2007  under the guidance of Sri Sharath Jois  (Sri K. Pattabhi Jois’grandson)  at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India.
In 2010 she opened “ Yoga et Bien-etre”, where she was teaching for 4 years, running Hatha Yoga class evenings  and daily Mysore style program in the mornings. And the last year, she started to offer workshops on Yoga and meditation including Satsang about Yoga sutra, relaxation and pranayama.
For 13 years she studied the yoga through her own daily practise and teaching, the mind through regular and repetitive meditation retreats, she gave importance to the sadhana, she learned more about the body through her training and experience in Thai yoga massage and about the mind through her training and practise in NLP (sessions, workshop) .

With deep gratitude and respect she shares the primary series teachings as she has been taught by Monica Marinoni and Sri Sharath Jois.

In 1961 the Mother gave the adesh to Narad to bring down a new music. She said that one must go far above words and bring down the pure Music. Mother told us to sit in a circle and have no preconceptions as to what we would sing but to be silent and let the music descend in us. The OM Choir aspires to bring down the New Music for the New World in a collective body. We sing only OM, the creative and effectuating Word, after starting with warming-up and voice exercises given by Narad.

Ashtanga  Yoga

All students commence their instruction in the same manner in which on the first day of class they are taught Surya Namaskar A, followed by Padmasana and deep breathing, and a few minutes of rest to conclude their first day of practice. The next day after Surya Namaskar A has been performed, Surya Namaskar B is taught, and one then again concludes in the same method as the previous day, with Padmasana, deep breathing, and rest. After both of the Surya Namaskar have been learned correctly, each of the various asanas are added one by one. When one asana is correct, the next one is taught. Depending on the age and ability of the student, it can take anywhere upwards of 3 months to learn the primary series.

From Monday to Friday: the format of the practice always remains the same; one always begins practice on his own with Surya Namaskar, concludes with Padmasana and rest, and the various asanas gradually fill the space between these two poles It is through the daily practice of Ashtanga Yoga that we draw it into ourselves, understand it.
On Saturdays, group guided classes are taught, in which all the vinyasas are counted out loud and all students follow along together accordingly

Description

Yoga Anatomy and Alignment in Asana

These yoga sessions highlight basic anatomy and alignment. Each class focuses on a specific musculoskeletal group, and begins with a brief description of the corresponding anatomy. We then engage these muscles and bones through a variety of asanas (standing poses, twists, hip openers, forward and back bends). The use of props helps students at all levels to develop sensitivity, and practice with greater stability, effectiveness, and ease. Understanding basic anatomy, alignment, and use of props allows practitioners to receive the full benefits of each asana without overextending themselves.

Rajiv started studying with Shri Iyengar, fondly known as Guruji to his students, in 1977. Ever since, Rajiv has been attending classes at the RIMYI , Pune for several months each year. For many years, he and his wife Swati taught yoga in several premier schools and institutions in India and overseas. In 1995, they authored the pioneering book, Yoga for Children.  With Guruji's blessings, Swati and Rajiv established the Yog-ganga Centre for Yoga Studies, in Mussoorie in 1988. In 2002, this centre moved to a purpose built studio in the foothills of Dehradun (http://www.yog-ganga.com), where they conduct regular classes and intensives.

About 5 Rhythms dance & movement meditation :

Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by ten thousands worldwide - 5 Rhythms is philosophy, perspective, performance art and dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal it self. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5 Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance , to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego's hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free. Creativity. Connection. Community.

Dance liberates us from our thinking minds as we fully inhabit our bodies. To achieve inner stillness of mind we begin by chanting mantra OM several times spontaneously from the heart centre. Once the mind is slowed down, we chant the maha mantra "Hare Rama Hare Krishna"  or similar and then express the inner joy in form of natural body movements focusing entirely on the present moment. In the end, we ground the energy using proven guided relaxation technique of auto suggestion called Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep.

Easy Yoga Asana Alignment

In yoga asana practice, alignment refers to the optimal relationship between bones and musculature, to maximize physical efficiency and ease of movement. Proper alignment is essential to reduce strain and prevent injury. These sessions feature awareness of posture, alignment, and the stretching and strengthening both sides of the body equally. It also includes instructions on the use of props, which help students at all levels to practice with greater stability, effectiveness and ease.

Christine was born in France in 1967. After completing her studies as Nurse in 1988, she started working as a nurse and soon started

travelling in India seeking “for the truth” through pilgrims around Rishikesh

In this circle of joy where each one encounters his difficulties, we laugh at the vagaries of life without worrying ourselves with what comes next. Hatha Yoga

is a comprehensive study of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control).

Open Heart Space Meditation is a simple practice of becoming aware of the reality as it is without judgement, interpretation or reaction, and settling into its vast luminous expanse. We learn to embrace and let go each experience as it arises and subsides. Eventually the mind falls silent and sinks into the open heart-space, a doorway to unity-consciousness, where the inner and outer worlds meet and merge.

Along with meditation, there will be some mantra chanting, yoga, interactive dialogue, and whatever arises in the moment.

Sheida is a certified yoga teacher from the SportFor All Federation of Iran. She has been teaching yoga for 7 years,   and is also a hydrotherapist, and an aqua yoga and swimming instructor. Sheida is a Savi volunteer, visiting Auroville from her home country of Iran.

You can become conscious of your visual limits by doing some simple and easy drawing exercises. Please don’t be afraid! Drawing is not a matter of some mysterious magical skill, but a matter of perception. Every person who is able to write has the skill to draw.

This short learning experience is interesting for everybody, who really wants to explore the reality around. Our perception (of every sense!) is usually limited by what we already have learned.

Most people are not even able to even see, what is right in front of their eyes.

They register what they see and then the mental part of the brain filters the information and makes it fit into their habits and belief systems.

Realizing this mechanism you might become able to perceive the real physical form.

By seeing that, you can go further and start to see energy fields …

In these 2 1/2 hours you might find a different access to silence your mental and to unfold your creativity.

Registration: matrigold@auroville.org.in, Matrigold 2622458, please register your name + phone number + guest house or AV community

Fee on donation

Venue: Matrigold Office, Sanjana Community (residential zone)

Open Heart-Space Meditation is a simple practice of becoming aware of the reality as it is without judgement, interpretation or reaction, and settling into its vast luminous expanse.

We learn to embrace and let go each experience as it arises and subsides. Eventually, the mind falls silent and sinks into the open heart-space, a doorway to unity-consciousness, where the inner and outer worlds meet and merge.

Along with meditation practice based on insight techniques, the session also offers simple yoga exercises, mantra chanting, energetic healing, playful interaction and dialogue, and whatever else may arise in the moment.

Samrat grew up in the Integral Yoga Ashram of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother for 21 years and has been living in Auroville since 2000.

No previous experience is required to attend these sessions.

Solitude Farm
11:30 AM

Dear Friends,

Join us every Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm as we explore Solitude farm and the three steps on our road back to Nature. Experience the farm with Krishna as your guide as he shares his understanding of 25 years having started Solitude Farm and studying with Masanobu Fukuoka.

For more information, please contact Krishna - 984 331 2960 & krishnamckenzie@auroville.org.in

-----

Solitude was started in 1996 by a group of young Aurovillians. One of them, Krishna Mckenzie, inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka developed the farm with the ideas of Natural farming and permaculture.

Much like the rest of Auroville, the land needed tending and care. Fukuoka advocated that all the bio-resources around us, such as leaves, weeds, branches, etc., should constantly be returned to the soil to increase soil fertility. We have come to understand, over the years, that a healthy soil is Mother Earth, and through a deepening of our relationship with Her, we now use over 130 different plants in the food we serve at the café.

No pesticides or fertilizers have ever been used on the land. We practice non-tillage and no machines or tractors are used. Every part of this land is honored and respected.

Solitude Farm is a true example of Masanobu Fukuoka’s philosophy in practice – a road back to nature through eating local food.

Woga is based on yoga poses and stretches modified for warm water.

Thanks to the decrease of gravity, water gives ease to the yoga movements, unblocks articulations, lengthens and melts muscles, removes negative tensions, and prevents stress, insomnia and anxiety. Sessions include breathing, warm-up exercises, a series of poses, and a relaxation period.

Focus of Woga 1 is Asanas in water (standing, at the wall, floating and under water); besides asanas, the focus of Woga 2 is pranayama and meditation.

No previous experience required; also no need to know how to swim!

Come to understand the relation between emotions and organs, and the beneficial effect of asanas on organs. Emotions should flow constantly; when an emotion is blocked, this causes tension somewhere in the body. If this persists, inner organs will start to suffer. Asanas are a powerful tool to restore the natural flow.

Andres began to receive teachings of yoga since youth. Vegetarian since age 14. After being blessed with the opportunity of studying yoga in several places including Krishnamacharr Yoga Shala, Auroville, Dharma Yoga Center and an Ashram in India, he finally found his inspiration in the teachings of  Sri Dharma Mittra.

He is also certified in Yoga Thai Massage by the Sunshine Massage School and Therapy Thai Massage School.

Meditation is part of his practice, and he has completed courses in Vipassana meditation, Pranic Consciousness, and Vision Quest of the Native Americans.
